Welcome to Calmspace Counselling

A confidential space to explore thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Calmspace Counselling.

My name is David O’Hanlon and I am a counsellor/therapist based in Nottingham providing short and long-term therapy to adults and university students

I work with young people and adults. My approach is based on careful listening to you creating a genuine, kind and supportive connection with you.

This creates the possibility of more understanding of your life and your self and the ability to grow and create a better life for yourself.

I work primarily with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

I can offer both person-centred and solution-focused sessions, according to each client's particular needs. I am experienced in helping clients with wide ranging difficulties including:

Depression

Responses to trauma

Anxiety

Isolation and loneliness

Substance mis-use and self harming

It is possible that a small number of sessions can be enough to work through a current issue and establish a better future.

Alternatively, working in an open ended way can work at a deeper level and gain greater insight and self awareness into what troubles us. Which approach to take is what works for you. If you commit to say, six or twelve sessions, this may be enough for you and you can always extend, if this seems helpful.

Being listened to in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment can itself start to bring a sense of relief and freedom.
